Rockel Designs is an independent Landscape Architecture design and consulting practice based in the Edmonton area.
Principal, Cory Rockel is a registered Landscape Architect in Alberta with over sixteen years of experience in urban design, site planning, park and open space design, streetscape development, sustainable design, low impact development, and recreation and sports park development.
Cory started his career as a Landscape Architect, working with Edmonton based bouquet firm EIDOS Consultants Inc. (formerly Gibbs Brown Johansson). At EIDOS, Cory worked on notable project as the Riel Recreation Park in St. Albert, the Capital Line - South Light Rail Transit expansion, Stony Plain Road Redevelopment, The Quarters - Downtown East Urban Design Master Plan, Station Pointe Transit Orientated Development Master Plan, Boyle Renaissance Phase 1, John Janzen Nature Centre Greenroof addition, Edmonton Animal Services, the Wild Rose Circle Chinese Elders Facility and the Canada Place Child Care Society Playground and Outdoor Classroom.
In 2016, Cory stepped away from EIDOS to join Urban Systems Ltd., to lead the Engineering Firm's, Edmonton landscape architecture practice. Under Urban Systems, Cory's notable projects included; the Queen Elizabeth School and Glengarry Park Master Plans, the Confederation Park Master Plan, Stony Plain's Rotary Park Playground and Parking lot redevelopment, St. Albert's Founder's Walk development and the Heritage Park redevelopment, Devon's Discovery Place Memory Care Centre, and the St. Brendan School Playground.
After gaining valuable experience from both Urban Systems and EIDOS, in 2018 Cory felt it was time to step out on his own to start Rockel Designs, an independent Landscape Architectural design and consulting practice.
Working under his own brand, he is further developing his expertise in providing his clients with successful design concepts, functional solutions, and positive implementation strategies. With Cory’s years of experience with Construction Implementation and Management, he is successfully able to mitigate project risk, foresee challenges, and work collaboratively with his clients and contractors for a successful outcome.
